i have eczema and so did my daughter but she grew out of it once she reached my sons age but my son seems to still be affected by it. The back of his legs and inner arm are mostly affected but he’s now started itching his private area. The back of his legs and inner arms have darkened which worries me it being permanent. He has small cuts around his private where it sore and his scrotum. I did go to the doctor recently but they just gave an emollient for hydrating the skin and piriton. I’m more worried about his private area and how to stop him scratching there. Anyone with children been through this. I hate that I passed this condition on to
him

Go back to the GP, there is probably something they can give for the itching.

And if he wears pull-ups at night, switch to just a disposable bed mat and nothing on the lower half for a while as it will cause less irritation, unfortunately it means more clean up.

He needs a pediatric allergy appointment. Might be time to start steroids / find out what’s truly causing it. For the scrotal excema — boxers (loose) made of cotton, loose carpenter style trousers, wash with emoliant everyday and dry carefully. If possible let him sleep without anything on at the bottom

  1. Book patch testing for dermatitis
  2. The Eczema Diet - follow books recommendations as far as possible.
  3. Allergy testing
  4. Look into dust mite over exposure - carpets? Pillows? Soft furnishings?
  5. Don't use steroids on this area. A thin, mild ointment/cream/lotion on the area. Cotton pants only.
  6. Any questions, ask me!

A dermotologist is needed. Most GPs don't have a clue about eczema and dermatitis. Beware of emollients causing or worsening symptoms.

Piriton doesn’t seem to be helping much. He’s on antibiotics I’m wondering if that’s causing it because it’s never been this bad. He’s scratched his legs where it had dried up and it’s weeping now. I keep moisturising but I think he needs something stronger . The pharmacy’s weren’t open today. He’s so uncomfortable I feel terrible . He’s itchy on his face and inside his ears which has never happened before either

Take him to a walk in center Tomorrow, I'm wondering if he's allergic to the emulsifier.
