Hi all,
I’m looking to hear from anyone with experience of fetomaternal haemorrhage (FMH).
Five months ago when I was close to my due date, I noticed reduced movements. I attended monitoring on two consecutive days and she just passed both times. On the third day an ultrasound showed she had stopped growing and abnormal blood flow to the brain, so she was delivered urgently by C-section around 30 minutes later.
At birth she was extremely pale. She cried quickly (Apgar 7) and was taken straight to NICU. Her haemoglobin was 4 and she required a blood transfusion.
She is developing well and there are no current concerns, but I am still worried about longer-term effects and whether earlier intervention would have changed anything. Specifically I feel that I should have pressed for more monitoring after the second day of monitoring. I’m aware that we are very lucky, as FMH often does not have a good outcome.
Has anyone experienced something similar? There has been a thread about this on Mumsnet but it's very old.
