Recurrent bronchiolitis

Hello!

My almost one year old is on his 5th round of bronchiolitis since June. 3 of the times he’s been in hospital and once with an NG tube and oxygen. He’s got the blue inhaler which helps to some extent at home and has kept us out of hospital so far this time.
He seems ok ish in the day (breathes like he’s been smoking 20 a day for donkeys years) but ok in himself but night time is a different story.
He wakes him self up coughing and then just does not go back to sleep. Every cough after that wakes him up and upsets him a lot.
i think I’ve been in survival mode most of the 2nd half of this year and now I’m back to a busy job at work this is even more difficult on us all as a family.
I’m hoping for tips, moral support or any advice and experiences of recurrent bronchiolitis please!

I'd be very surprised if it was bronchiolitis this many times since June. He sounds very like my son, who we found out at 11 months was actually aspirating (breathing fluid onto his lungs). He would also reflux at night, and aspirate on that, which would make him cough and be very chesty. We had so many rounds of antibiotics and A&E trips before we figured out what was happening. He sounded chesty and wheezy alllll the time. He is now having thickened fluids and his symptoms have gone!! No more admissions! I'd push for a paediatrician and speech and language team review (they deal with swallow issues, not just speech). Happy for you to message me if it's helpful.

My ds was in /out of hopistal the first 10 months of his life. Recurring bronchiolitis.. Was so draining tbh. 10 day stays each time back then.
At 18 he was a healthy fit lad who passed army fitness tests with flying colours.. Now at 24 he's a picture of health and muscle!!
Look after you too op. Snacks and chances to relax whenever you get can grab them.

My younger daughter had a lot of bronchiolitis in her first year and half. I ended up taking her to a cranial osteopath who basically said her ribs moved up when breathing instead of out- she corrected this for her and she has been nearly a year free of inhalers. It was really a last ditch attempt as the doctors all said it was normal to have the constant wheeze etc.
