My DS had this when a baby and it did turn out to be a dairy allergy -it was from my milk based on me eating dairy.

just on his face like patches on cheeks and eyebrows till last night he got a little dry patch start to appear on his shoulder and a small one next to his nip!!

This doesn't sound 'out of control'.

Has the GP agreed it is eczema?

the sunshine will definitely be good for him though! :)

I wouldn't wet his face at all. What is the cloth washed in? Do you use fabric conditioner on it? Are you wetting his face with the cloth and drying it straight away?

Well to me it is from going from baby bum skin to how sore it looks now 😩 will try to add a photo and nothing will clear it up, tried so many they do help then it just looks the same after a few hours! Yes they gave me a hydrocortisone cream but he really reacted x

Since DS is now 27 everything I know is out of date, but I'll tell you anywaySmile.

After taking him to the GP when his skin got infected, we were referred to the 'Eczema Nurse', I presume a District Nurse but she may have been from a hospital skin team, can't remember now. She demonstrated how to wet-wrap DS, we'd have been expected to wet-wrap him nightly. Luckily we got it under control and didn't have to do that.

We were told to keep his skin as clean as possible, he was bathed nightly in Aveeno ?oil? and moisturised with Aveeno cream. Aveeno is an oat-based product, it used to just be a few products but now they do loads of different ones which are probably not as effective for eczema - stick to the boxed cream "AVEENO® Cream with Natural Colloidal Oatmeal". If it doesn't say 'colloidal oatmeal' on the packaging it's not the right product.

We also noticed his eczema cleared up when we visited my family in Scotland, a soft-water area - we ourselves live in a hard-water area.

for the face it’s tricky because you want to keep it clean because if stuff gets into the eczema it can cause allergies and get infected, but over washing is also drying.

could you get a good water filter (maybe EPIC if you’re willing to spend the money) and only use filtered water on his face? the skin on the cheeks is usually thinner which is why it’s typically worse affected.

for moisturisers they are all the same just make sure it’s hypoallergenic. use hypoallergenic on yourself too.

when my kid had eczema i didnt know any of this and i used a sesame based moisturiser on myself (Sukin) and my DD developed a sesame allergy, i have felt forever guilty about that.
