Can they eat macadamia nuts, I started giving him 10-12 pieces a day to fatten him as his abit under weight. Any contradictions before I start giving him daily ? Are they bad or cause any health concern !

"To fatten him"? Nuts are fine unless he has known allergies. Maybe consider nut butters and a mixture of nuts, not just macadamia. Whole milk, full fat yoghurt and cheese etc. Spread the extra calories around all areas of a balanced diet.

How did he get under weight?

Do you have a lot of anxiety around food that he may have picked up on?

Peanut butter is a lot cheaper than macadamia nuts, and 10-12 macadamia nuts a day isn't going to help your child get to a healthy weight.

What is his normal daily diet?

Unless he's allergic then all nuts are high calorie but full of energy. So make a good snack for little kids and adults alike in moderation. Macadamias are quite expensive though. Maybe try him on other better value nuts, dried fruit etc to widen his palate? But they are totally fine.

What are you worried about? Choking/ allergies/ calories?

It wouldn’t even occur to me to think about it, but tell us what you’re worried about and we can reassure you.

He vomited at night yesterday and before yesterday and it coincided with starting the macadamia nut so thinking it’s the issue !
he has no known nuts allergy. His fine with other nuts.

My dd has always been off the bottom of the percetile chart. She eats properly and competes at a high level in her sport. She’s 19 now and her knickers are age nine. She used to see a dietitian when she was very young.

She’s never liked biscuits etc. She had a huge Costco jar of nuts on her desk all the way through her A Levels.

Vomiting would be an unusual allergic reaction to a tree nut.

Nut oils can go rancid though, so they should be kept in the fridge.

But you have to factor in seasonal D&V viruses too.

There are much cheaper fattening foods for your child - peanut butter, avocados, ice cream and other confections/ desserts, full fat yogurt and milk, cheese, foods high in protein if he eats more of them (meats, fish, eggs).

Yes I just found out he has Covid so it’s not the nut. I already incoperated all food listed to his diet but he gets lot of virus’s and make him lose all the weight. Covid now making him choke all night like u can hear liquid go up his throat and then he chokes and wakes up and I have to hit his back to get him to breathe
