Hi

my son is on the camhs waiting list for an adhd assessment. The teachers and other people all agree this is probably what he has.

my issue is I am sleep deprived and struggling, not with his behaviour just his lack of sleep. I feel like I have tried everything in the book. I’ve trolled these message boards, the internet, books and even been to the doctors and the school (who incidentally have also helped me with my camhs application)

but nothing seems to work… please please please can anyone recommend what works for them or their kids just after some advice

thank you so much in advance from a very sleep deprived mummy ❤️

You have my sympathy. when DS was finally diagnosed (4 year wait for assessment) he was given a relaxation cd to help him relax off to sleep. When he next saw the person who gave it to him he commented that, after it finished the second time, he just switched it off because it got boring.

They were astounded, they’d never met anyone who wasn’t asleep by the end of the first listen! He was finally, around age 9/10 prescribed melatonin, it did work but at age 13 he started refusing to take it as he didn’t like how it made him feel.

Try Marconi union, weightless. It’s a piece of music proven to reduce heart rate and cause such relaxation you are advised not to play it when driving. There is an extended version on YouTube or Alexa can play it on repeat. Worth a go?

Thank you so much I will certainly give it ago. I was told there was a long waitlist for an appointment. Xx
