Adenoids and night time bed wetting

Ichangedmynameonce · 02/11/2025 22:05

My DS is 8 and never dry at night. He's having his adenoids removed soon due to suspected sleep apnoea (they are huge and ENT doc said his airway is tiny).

I've read and ENT doc confirmed that enlarged adenoids are a common cause of nighttime bedwetting.

I'm just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and If so, was it solved when childs adenoids were removed? How long did it take?

Thanks

I had my adenoids out and didn’t wet the bed but it makes sense. Bless him, it’ll be so much easier when they’re out and he can nose breathe etc

I was a mouth breather, and due to having a dry mouth, would constantly drink lots of fluids (they suspected diabetes at first due to my constantly drinking water).
When the dry mouth was solved, then I didn't feel like I had to constantly wet the throat with fluids, and then bed wetting lessened and so did my numerous night time trips to the loo.

I hope the surgery is swift and painless, and soon! 🙏

One of my colleagues children bed wets at 12/13. She also has sleep apnoea, which is thought to be the cause of the bedwetting. However she’s refusing to have her tonsils out at the moment.

Thank you for sharing. Apparently it's really common in DC with sleep apnoea
