Permanent tooth after baby tooth extracted experiences

I’m just wondering what people’s experiences are with this. For those whose children had to have a baby tooth removed before they were naturally ready, did your child’s permanent tooth eventually come through fine or did they have problems?
I was told by the dentist that my DD’s top front tooth that was taken out will come through in the next year or so, but still worrying about it!

Was the tooth taken out due to an accident?

My daughter had a tooth removed and the dentist glued a spacer in the the gap to leave a space for the adult tooth to grow down in to. Her teeth are very over crowded though so without this the gap would have closed with nowhere for the tooth to grow! If the dentist was worried about the adult tooth growing through, they would do something like this. If they aren’t worried, I wouldn’t be either.

No not an accident. The tooth had worn down too much so they wanted to remove it.

I had a tooth removed as a child due to an abscess. This was in the early 1980's, so things are likely different now. The dentist put a loop of metal around the teeth on either side of the gap and a piece of metal joined them up to make a spacer. This was to stop my teeth moving together and preventing the adult tooth coming through.

I don't recall any problems at all, and only remembered I had it when I read your post.

Ah the dentist didn’t put a spacer in the gap as he said it wasn’t necessary. Was your daughter’s tooth ok when it came through?

Yeah it’s come through fine. If he thinks it’s not necessary then it probably isn’t. I had huge numbers of teeth removed as a child ( and adult!!) due to overcrowding and never had spacers. Sadly she gets her snaggleteeth from me!

OK. My son had his removed due to an accident. The impact did damage the adult tooth. Hopefully as yours is planned it should be OK.

My son had all his front 4 teeth out (again wore down and kept getting huge abscesses) his teeth didn’t come through for about 18 months - was getting worried.
