My son is so happy having his teeth brushed and really go at it morning and night but I am worried he has a cavity and feel so ashamed. Does anyone have any experience with this. Booking him in with a dentist asap.

Toddler cavity?

My daughter developed a cavity around the age of 3. She has reflux and at the time it was unstable and the acid was damaging her teeth. One molar had a cavity and two others had staining.
Although not diet related we removed sweets, citrus fruits, fruit juice and dried fruits from her diet and limited fruit. Her dentist recommended flouride treatment every 3 months and we started using a toothpaste that protects enamel. After 4 months and being under 2 consultant paediatrician we got her reflux under control
They didn't do fillings or x rays due to her age, they said they could cap the tooth if needed but if it got too big she would need it removing at the hospital.
The dietary and medication changes alongside the fluoride treatment stabilised the tooth. This was now 2 years ago and in that time the cavity hasn't gotten any big and it's not caused her any pain or discomfort. She was given drill free last month as the tooth is now fully eruptive and the cavity has changed colour indicating there's no active decay. They will keep with the 3 monthly fluoride treatments and we have been able to relax the dietary changes, she doesn't have anything regularly but can have them occasionally as treats.
