6 month lymph nodes

Hi all,

does anyone have experience with feeling lymph nodes in their baby?

my son (6 months) has had 2 sort of at the back of his head, they’re symmetrical and move easily. Took him to GP in the summer and they weren’t concerned at all.

have now noticed one behind his ear. It’s small but to me doesn’t feel quite as mobile. Took him to the GP and she said it is mobile and she’s not concerned.

she said I don’t really need to keep checking it, but just to come back if it was to change and suddenly become a lot bigger etc.

just wondered if anyone else can feel these in their babies? Or whether I should be asking for a second opinion

thanks in advance x

My DD has these. First noticed when she was a baby, felt very panicked and went to the GP who was not concerned. She’s still got them now at 6 years old, they’ve not changed at all.

Thanks so much for responding! That’s really reassuring :)

Hello! I can feel my DD’s lymph nodes in her neck I noticed them when she was a few months old and got her checked by a paediatrician he said same as your GP, small, mobile, not to worry unless they get bigger he offered an ultrasound to ease my worries which also showed they were just lymph nodes nothing sinister. We had a follow up when she was a year as they were still there and again, he just said they’re small and mobile so not to worry. He said it’s very common to be able to feel lymph nodes in children. Particularly in the head / neck area. We then saw the same paediatrician a few months ago for something unrelated (DD’s nearly 2) and I mentioned that they were still there, he had a feel and repeated what he’d told me the other times. You’ve done the right thing getting them checked and unless your son is showing other symptoms (lethargy, lack of appetite etc) I’d try not to worry x

I just hate feeling them and feel like I’m becoming obsessive, so I must try and just stop prodding them!!
