I was at primary school in the 70s and secondary school in the 80s. We moved around a bit so I went to 2 infant schools, a junior school, middle school, secondary school and 6th form college.

I never saw the school nurse because none of my schools had one. "Nitty Nora" came once a year when I was at primary and nurses came to do our BCG jabs at secondary but nobody was based at the schools.

Didn't have one in primary school, if we felt ill we went to the office to phone home to ask to be picked up (I did this quite a lot as I had a bad back in year 6 and realised if I said my back was hurting they'd never doubt me and just let me call home to get picked up Grin)
In my first secondary school we did have one, and a medical room, but I only remember going there once and getting a ice pack made out of a latex glove filled with water and frozen.
Moved to another school and didn't have one there.
I do remember getting some health checks done in primary school, hearing I think, and maybe a colour blindness test. Also remember getting vaccinations at school, and one friend kicking up such a fuss he had to be held down for his jab. And in secondary school we got the meningitis C jab and someone fainted, which made more people feel like they were going to faint, and I saw it was a good way to get to go home early so I claimed to feel faint too Grin

Now I'm in a different country and my children see the school nurse every year at the very least, for a proper check up (height, weight, vision, scoliosis check, and lots of questions about various things to see how they are getting on generally) and have at various times been to see the nurse for illness. The nurse holds an open time every day where they can just turn up if they have a problem, and otherwise they/parent can make an appointment - did that last month because DS was complaining of feeling tired all the time and we'll be seeing the school doctor next week to look at his tonsils to see if they need taking out. School healthcare pretty much replaces GP services for children here and is so much more accessible, plus the children all seem to love the school nurse in the primary school (the nurse in the upper school is lovely too in my opinion but my DD finds her annoying because she talks so much that a simple appointment ends up taking an hour!)

Never. Dinner lady would either put a plaster on, give you a wet paper toel or sit you with a bucket until someone came to collect.

A couple of times for the same reason at 18 when I was in the 6th form, prior to this I didn't know we had one. I think she was only on site one day a week and was more for management of health issues whilst at school.
I had to see the school first aider quite a few times as I fainted a lot!

We used to call the school nurse ‘matron’.

Same.

Nit nurse came round regularly to root through the hair of kids in long lines.
Remember a trolley of some description in school in the 70s
Had a lot of headaches, zero fucks given by any adults, no sympathy or empathy.
Turns out I needed glasses.

Same here. I remember a small room with a trolley. I think you had to be practically dead to be allowed to rest on it.

Also nit nurse who came fairly regularly and also checked your nails. We have to wear vest and pants or PE kit and totally inexplicably the nurse would have a glimpse down the back of your pants. Unfathomable now.
