THREADWORM HELP!

So on the 7/10 my 7 yr old went to the toilet and I ‘thought’ I saw threadworm in his bowel movement. Having had two previous episodes I always monitor this as have two boys. We all immediately took ovex. In hindsight and over the past nearly 3 weeks I realised that it couldn’t have been as whatever it was wasn’t moving and he’s shown no further symptoms.

However 3 days after taking ovex my eldest went to the toilet and there were 2/3 tiny worms moving in his poo. So by sheer chance having taken the medication we discovered he had them but ‘think’ had been caught early.

i have checked both boys each time they have gone to the toilet and at night and no signs. Took 2nd dose 2 weeks later on 21/10.

Today is day 3 of second dose and despite no signs of any, my eldest went to the toilet this morning and 1 live worm (adult size) in poo was there.

I know with threadworm hygiene is extremely important and I’ve done this consistently since first discovered. Washing bedding each day on 60 degrees, cleaning all surfaces, clothes off and straight into wash, pants on at night, hand washing with nail brush after toilet, before meals and immediately after waking and daily morning and evening showers.

can anyone explain why with no signs for 2 weeks and again when the second dose has kicked in why there would be a live worm show again?

I’ve read up in cycles but don’t understand why the initial dose wouldn’t of killed or had any effect of eggs were inside him at that point.

have spoken with GP who is getting advice from a paediatrician on how to deal with this - just wondered if anyone else had experienced similar to this?

Any advice or experiences of being similar would be greatly appreciated! Along with anyone who could explain this.

Thanks!

Maybe reinfection? Unless your kids are homeschooled, they are probably picking it up from school.
