Did my dd go into shock?

DD is 13. On the spectrum as has ADHD. She is going through a really anxious phase and often comes through at night saying she can’t sleep. She came through last night but tripped and fell hurting her chest on the bannister and said her throat hurt and wasn’t sure if she’d hit that too. I checked her over and while she will definitely bruise she was walking/ talking/ took a sip of water/ had a paracetamol but she was anxious she’d done something serious. I tried to reassure her and get her to relax. She then said her legs felt funny. I asked her to stand up and all was fine but she
mentioned her anxiety and how she hated feeling that way. Then she said she felt cold so I told her to get under the duvet and get warm. Felt her face and she felt as if she was getting colder so I got her a bottle. She was trembling beside me for about 2-3 hours before she finally drifted off and is still sleeping now at lunchtime. Do you think she went into shock or simply anxiety. Have spoken to her this am and she says her throat hurts and is really tired. I was giving her the morning off and hoped I’d get her to school but I think her body seems to need to recover. Anyone had something similar?

Shock is cardiovascular compromise so assuming you can wake her up, no.

The word shock is used in two different ways.

medics use it to describe a strong reaction the body has to a severe injury. So for example loss of several pints of blood, head injury etc.

it Doesn’t sound like she had that.

then there is the everyday use to describe that someone had a physical or psychological reaction to some news or to an incident. Eg she was shocked to hear he had been having an affair. She might have had that sort of reaction.

Possibly a combination of being winded by hitting her chest and a panic attack?
