Is this a lip tie? Does it need fixed?

My baby is 5 months old and from birth has feeding issues, colic and others. I was told she was checked for a tongue and lip tie when she was born but I’d just like some advice if anyone thinks this is something that I need to fix as hate to think of her in pain.

Thanks

That type of lip tie is really common and doesn't affect feeding. She'll probably break it in a fall or bike crash over the next few years. It'll bleed a lot, but then the top tip will be free. Doesn't make any difference to her at this point. It's under the tongue ones that are a big issue for feeding.

See if your area has a feeding clinic. They can offer advice.

That is a tie and if she has a lip tie she us very likely to have a tongue tie too. I was told both of my children didn't have ties. Went to Dr Levinkind who is a specialist and they actually had quite severe ties but they were posterior so harder to spot. Once revised, feeding was so much more comfortable, 'colic' went away almost over night. I'd strongly advise getting your baby looked at by a specialist.

Oh and with that tie, your baby can't form the correct seel around breast or bottle which means they'll be taking in air when they feed which leads to the trapped air in their tummy.
