Hello my daughter is 2.5 and for the past month or so she’s had this rash which started on her vulva, I tried sudocrem, metanium, Vaseline but nothing working, I took her to the doctors who prescribed hydrocortisone and miconazole cream to treat ?fungal infection. It continued to spread onto the tops of her thighs so we went back to the doctor but said apply for another 10-14 days. I stopped using baby wipes and have been washing with dermal 500 as a soap substitute. She has been potty trained since May but sometimes has little wee accidents in her pants before using the potty and wears a nappy at bedtime. The doctor dipped her urine and all is okay. Can anybody think what else I can try please? I’ll obviously take her back to the doctors after the 10-14 days is up but would really like to avoid any stronger steroid cream if possible.

Thank you!

Guessing you’ve changed your laundry detergent? And tried washing that area with just water?

And has the GP said to use the dermal 500? I would have though an anti microbial would have been bad to use in that area

Have you considered diet? Acidic foods can cause this. I remember my DM said I loved tomatoes as a baby, which caused an issue. She'd leave the nappy off as much as practicable and altered my diet. Just a thought.

@ToKittyornottoKittyno nothing changed, used the same since she was born and the rash isn’t anywhere else just lady parts and inner thighs. Yeah I could ditch the dermal for a bit :)

@ToKittyornottoKittythey didn’t the first but I said I was using it the second time and they said carry on. I’ll stop and use just water see if we see a difference

They are mildly acidic! Maybe worth thinking about anything in contact with the skin too.
