Could this be strawberry tongue?

Please go gentle on me, I have severe health anxiety when it comes to my little girl (seeking treatment for it.)

DD 2 has had mild fever for four days (38.5 max coming down fine with Calpol/Nurofen and severe cough.) Took her to GP yesterday as she has recurring croup/two lots of chest infections in past eight months requiring antibiotics/is on inhalers. GP said chest clear and most likely viral, but her throat was red.

Her temp went down yesterday but spiked again in the night. I've worried myself silly about strep/scarlet fever - does her tongue look normal? I'm worried it might be strawberry tongue but to be honest have very little to compare to as I don't routinely look at her tongue...

Thank you so much.

Hi Op, my DD had similar symptoms and I was concerned it was scarlet fever, so we went to OOH GP (these things always seem to happen at the weekend don't they). She was given antibiotics for tonsillitis, but the Gp said it wasn’t scarlet fever, but could see why I had thought that. I have attached a pic of her tongue, so you can see.

I would keep a very close eye on her, and then see how she goes. If you have any concerns, trust your instincts and get her seen by OOH.

Your DD is adorable by the way! x

Thank you so much, I really appreciate this. Oh your poor DD, it's horrible seeing them poorly and yes it always happens over a weekend and OOH in our area is not the best. She's happy enough and eating/drinking well still so just keeping a close eye. No sign of a rash/any other SF symptoms so just hoping it's viral.
