Hi, Does anyone have any suggestions on the best cream to help a child who suffers with Pediatric Vaginitus.

For two years my dd has suffered since the age of 5 (now 7) we had to remove all perfumes from her washing and use an Eco friendly non perfumed washing powder, no detergent, no form of soaps in her baths and also all natural non perfumed bamboo toilet paper and her flare ups still happen which we put down to her urine possibly being too strong as she is a madame for not drinking enough even though we encourage it alot at home, when she comes home from school sometimes her water bottle has barely been touched. I have spoken with the school on this matter. Anyway despite putting vasaline on her of a morning and evening it just doesnt seem to help to give enough protection in her sensitive area. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as seeing her get these sharp uncomfortable pains is heartbreaking.
We have already been to the doctors on this matter and they have diagnosed her with Pediatric Vaginitus so I know its nothing else as we went through lots of channels to eliminate threadworms etc.

Have you tried nappy rash creams? It may have more healing products in than just vaseline alone. Also try aloe Vera

My DD had this. She was similar in that she didn’t drink much water. I think she gradually grew out of it - she hasn’t had it for a while (touch wood!).

One change we did make is that we stopped her drinking fruit juice of any kind, as this seemed to trigger an attack. I suspect that helped.

We didn’t find any kind of cream helpful unfortunately.

Try sudocrem
Also, no sugary drinks

We had this.

Regular baths with tea tree oil and lavender - suggested by doctor. This really really helps. As he explained it to us, the irritation makes them more likely to scratch or irritate it and that has a cumulative effect. The mild disinfect in the bath help to manage this.

Sudocreme helped a bit with the discomfort.

Yes to drinking. No to drinking anything like orange juice or anything acidic. She did have heavily watered apple juice regularly and was still drinking a lot of milk in those days.

I’m sure this is really obvious and you have already checked this but is she wiping properly and have you watched and ensured she is actually doing it correctly. My 4 year olds is pretty sensitive, although doesn’t seem quite as severe as yous, she has had bouts of this on and off. We’ve noticed she’s had flare up at times when she’s been solely responsible for her wiping, for example when she’s first potty trained and was having to clean herself at nursery was when it really started, then when she started becoming responsible for her own cleaning after a poo it flared up again. Sometimes if she’s been a bit lazy and not been getting herself completely dry she has flare up.
