As the heading as said. DS aged 4 has just had a bath laughing his socks off with his father and needed to come out for a poo. I noticed that it had blood in it. DS didn’t seem to be bothered at all, had no idea and carried on about his day. He’s been busy and happy all day. He is in the middle of a mucussy cough and cold.

im an anxious wreck and worrying myself silly. He’s gone to bed now. But I’m thinking should I ring 111 or wait until morning for the doctors.

any similar experiences or advice please.

They could see it because it was right at the end, but think how long that channel is. A cut could be well out of sight. It sounds like you’re convincing yourself it’s more serious. Please don’t. Like I keep saying a one off even whilst the child is well…it’s 99% nothing and you’ve done the right thing having it checked

@ICSH1 thank you for having the patience to keep replying. So appreciated.
I do get myself in a right tiz over him I have to be honest. I just worry when it’s these bizarre things that don’t seem as common, everyone I talk to, no one has had the experience. So it often just seems to be these things going on that no one has kind of been through and then I end up spiralling. But thank you for your reply honestly xx

Oh I get it believe me. I have a long history of health anxiety which used to centre around me but now I’m hyper vigilant about my youngest child in particular (not that I don’t love my eldest but he’s so robust 😂) so I understand the panic. I find this forum quite helpful because you almost always find someone who has been through what you are. An internal cut especially for a child with large poos is so so so common. I asked around my friends today and I found hardly any of them who HADNT come across it. I think you’re going to be just fine. As I keep saying, a HUGE indicator is if your child is otherwise well. Digestive issues that cause bleeding will the vast majority of the time come with a host of other symptoms. Certainly discomfort. Please find some reassurance in that x

@ICSH1 oh really? So you get the chaos that is an anxious brain! Yes I suffer health anxiety and similar to you, it used to be around me but quickly moved on to DS.. well actually now it’s all 3 of us I obsess over 🙈 working through it the best we can I guess! It’s harsh though!

oh really? That’s so reassuring to hear, thank you so much for your patience on this thread. It’s honestly help calm the thoughts and hearing this doesn’t seem so uncommon helps so much. Thank you x

Yep things that are unexpected or new are seriously triggering for me too so I totally get it! It’s exhausting, I’m not sure most people realise how hard HA is 🙁

always happy to help x
