Any paediatrics/GPs on here - do the adult at home over the counter uti test kits work for children?

Hello hivemind, don't worry we are not forgoing proper medical advice or substituting at home testing for medical appointments. Our son is 2 and is one year in to having reoccurant utis. It has lead to possible scarring and we are under a specialist pediatric renal consultant and doing all we can to pick up any new utis early. We have been told to book a gp appointment whenever we think he may have a uti. Which we do, however have varied success in getting him appointments - some gps see his history and get us in the same day if he has a temperature and needs a test and other times we seem to have little success getting appointments or past the receptionist. While we wait i was considering buying some home uti dipsticks to test and urinary pots for a clean catch sterile sample. At least that way if it is positive when he is ill we know to go to and e if we cant get a same day drs. Apt. We have been advised by our paediatrician that if we think he has a UTI to act immediately to prevent further scarring. Anyway basically we are throwing all we have at picking these damn infections up but can only finf the over the counter uti tests for adults. There seems to be no info about whether these are appropriate for use on a 2 nearly 3 year old. Do these tests work on children they are used in medical settings but no idea if it would detect a uti in a toddlers urine as it only mentions use for adults. Nothing obvious available for children. Will also ask gp on monday but hoping to order asap. He currently has no symptoms this is a just in case kit to have in the house:

Any pawdiatricians or gps or nurses know if the uti dipsticks used for adults can pick up utis in toddler urine?

Thanks mumsnet.. And as i said i will also ask gp!

In the surgery we use the same dip tests on children and adults, although not that brand. (Combur 7 are our go to)
If nitrate positive or positive for blood definitely contact out of hours/111, don’t wait until GP surgery is open.
Leukocytes can just be contamination, so not so concerning if nothing else indicated.
I imagine it just says adults so that, if unwell but nothing comes up, parents don’t have a false sense of reassurance and fail to seek medical attention for their DC.

As a paed’s nurse I can tell you they’re all the same throughout the hospital. Those ones will be fine.
