What age is it okay to let a toddler sleep with a blanket?

My little boy is 15 months old, he’s slept on his front for as long as I can remember. (As soon as he could put himself there). It’s getting a bit cooler now but he was too hot when I used a 0.5 tog sleeping bag a couple of nights ago. He seems to be perfect temp now in long pyjamas with a cellular blanket over him but it’s not tucked in because he sleeps right at the top of his cot with his head touching the top (again that’s where he puts himself). Is it safe to leave the blanket on him like that all night?

Absolutely. My DS was using a light duvet by that age.

Yes definitely fine

forgot to add that he’s still in a cot not a toddler bed does that matter? I read something about not introducing one until they’re in a bed.

I’m pretty sure DS was in a cot when we introduced it. Once he started standing/walking around, I didn’t like using a sleeping bag.

My little one had a light duvet In his cot and had a light duvet when I moved him to a single bed at 10 months

Thank you everyone. Think I’m just being paranoid I think he would be capable of moving it anyway if it did get close to his face but I can’t see how it will with him sleeping on his tummy

Yeah I know what you mean, he usually stands straight up in his cot on a morning when he wakes up but he’s fallen and banged his face on the side a couple of times in the sleeping bag cause he can’t move properly

We always used cotton cellular blankets and I still think they are best.
