Yes you will have clicked on this ready to tell me my child has worms , BUT , please can I have ideas for it it is not worms

7 year old DD I've noticed all week constantly pulling her knickers out of her bum. When asked, she said it's itchy. When asked where, she said bum and vulva. Now appears to just be bum.
Previously she had said actually around the anus, now she is saying just the actual bum cheeks. Can't see anything of note.

Gave ovex on the first day she mentioned it, washed everything, knickers at night and showers etc - but I've checked her bum in the night repeatedly and see no evidence of worms. Also she isn't itching at night, it's the day time it appears to bother her.

So far I've used sudocrem and also yesterday just an anti itch cream on her bum cheeks.

Ideas and solutions welcomed. Haven't changed washing powder etc.

I would assume dry skin or some kind of irritation maybe from her underwear. Has she had new pants recently which weren't washed before first wear? Maybe try getting some sensitive washing powder and washing her stuff with that (bedding too) to see if it helps.

Clean the bath in case something in the bath has irritated her. Has she had new bubble bath/body wash/shampoo?

Also could try a moisturising cream.

If not new pants, could her pants be too small and they are feeling tight and bothering her?

Sometimes (apol TMI) when I wee, if the angle is wrong and the urine flows backwards, it can sort of cover everything if that makes sense. At her age she might not be sufficiently drying herself with toilet paper if this happens and the resulting dried on urine might be irritating her skin. Try encouraging her to lean forwards when she does a wee so that the wee flows away from the vulva/bottom area. And a daily flannel wash before bed will also help prevent any build up if she doesn't have a daily shower/bath.

Does she know to wipe front to back? If she is bringing bacteria from her back passage to the urethra it can give you a UTI, which is itchy. I don't think it's this because you said it's more bum than vulva, but it could be.

Thank you, that's good advice particularly on leaning forward, I will encourage that.
