Temporary blue purple lips

Has anyone else experienced there child’s (4 year old) lips going blue purple with no other obvious symptoms? Is this a bruise? He’s saying it don’t hurt and I certainly haven’t seen him fall. I have even checked his oxygen level and it is fine. Currently waiting for 111 call back.

Any clues?

Could he have sucked his bottom lip into the top of a bottle when drinking, so it’s caused a vacuum, and it’s bruised it a bit?

It does look like a bruise doesn’t it? I has only drunk out of a bottle with a spout which is what he always drinks from. It’s really odd.

It does, hopefully you’ll get a call back soon and put your mind at rest.

Check his feet and lower legs for blood spots. There's just a slight chance he could have dropped his platelets - has he had a minor virus recently at all?

My son had this btw, it's called itp - immune thrombocytopenic purpura.

Does he have a gap between his teeth? That would fit the shape of the bruise? I'd say most likely his teeth have hit his lips at some point and he's forgotten. Lips bruise really easily.

No blood spots but I have noticed recently he has quiet a few little bruises on this legs which I can’t explain other than he’s very active and particularly loves to ride his pedal bike so I just assumed it was little knocks from that and being out a parks etc… a lot of the summer. He is also prone to spontaneous nose bleeds which according to Google can also be a sign but then his dad got those when he was little. I’m now wondering whether these things are
adding up to something else 😢

No, no virus or cold or anything recently x

It co you of be an issue with his platelets - particularly when you mention the spontaneous nose bleeds.
