If your child had a repair op, can you tell me how soon they felt back to normal?

I can't remember if it was an umbilical hernia. Maybe an inguinal one? But DC had operation at about 8 months old and was fine within hours. Came home that afternoon. It was like nothing happened

Obviously we were careful with him for a few days/ a week but he was only at the crawling stage

I had one done in my 40s and it was as a day patient I was out the hospital before my anaesthetic had worn off, I didn’t recognise my husband when he picked me up. The whole thing was very quick (too quick) but I’m sure a child would have more monitoring. My DD had surgery when she was 3 and the children’s hospital was amazing.

Ive had a lot of abdominal surgery and the umbilical repair was definitely the easiest. I’m sure a child would bounce back very quickly.

That's good to hear, thank you. I'm in that 'What if' worry zone.

One of mine had it done when very young, a couple of months old I think. Literally like nothing happened once we got home, I was so surprised. Had a differnt but similar op also at a couple of years old, think about 3, had a spinal block and GA and bounced back an hour after waking up. Kids are very resilient!
