My toddler has a non blanching rash on leg, almost looks like a bruise, but he’s fine in himself should I be worried?

If it’s non blanching you need to get medical advice ASAP, OP.

Individewl · 06/08/2025 22:53

Please seek medical advice, look out for flu like symptoms as well.

A doctor needs to look at the rash not us.

If you can get on mumsnet you can contact 111

3luckystars · 06/08/2025 22:56

What do you mean you cannot do anything until the morning? What if there was an emergency, do you just wait for the sun to come up?

No it’s more the fact I’m a single mum with no transport and my son is fast asleep I have no way to get him seen till the busses start up

Taxi!

ToKittyornottoKitty · 06/08/2025 22:58

Taxis are a thing. But also if you contact 111 and it’s an emergency they will send an ambulance. You don’t just ‘wait until morning’ if it’s actually serious

Coffeeishot · 06/08/2025 23:01

Ring 111 they might send a paramedic./HCP out to you if they think he needs seen.

Make the call and if your child needs to be seen they will work it out for you.

cestlavielife · 06/08/2025 23:01

If it is a graze or bruise in one spot only and you confident he well in himself then wait til morning

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 06/08/2025 23:03

A non-blanching rash could be meningitis, @tkw96. At the very least you should ring 111 - they will run you through their list of questions, and if they are concerned they will send an ambulance. Personally, I would ring 999 and ask their advice.

In this situation, I honestly think it is better to overreact and be wrong than to underreact and be wrong. If this is meningitis, delaying until the morning could make things a lot more serious.

You probably think I am going OTT - if I am, and 111/999 can reassure you, I will be happy to admit I overreacted.

gobshite23 · 06/08/2025 23:05

To me that does look more like a bruise than a rash but you are clearly worried enough to post here so I would just ring 111 and get the advice. You can never be too careful with your little one’s health.

I had a similar situation when my dd was tiny and they sent an ambulance. So you don’t need to worry about getting there, if they think it needs to be seen they will send someone.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 06/08/2025 23:11

That does't look like a rash, more like a bruise or dry skin. If the child has no temp and is eating and well then is wait for the morning.

Hanation · 07/08/2025 22:33

How did it go? Was it ITP?
