Is this normal chickenpox

Little one came out in chickenpox yesterday and more have appeared today. Am just a bit worried if the one on his chin and neck are normal. The one on his chin seems to be getting redder and the redness spreading out. He also has a high temp I am bringing down with calpol. Last night he had a really high temp in bed and was muttering and jerking in his sleep.
I've given him piriton, calpol medicine wise. I've used viragel, poxclin, eurax and oat baths and even tried head and shoulders in the bath.

Can't get a doctor's appointment and really don't want to be taken him to walk in centre when he may not need to. Just a bit worried it's not normal and possibly getting infected?

How old is he?
DD had CP when she was 9 months old, and she was very unwell. Similar to what you’ve described, without the jerking though - that sounds a bit concerning.
Can you ring 111? They have got me an Out of Hours GP appt in the past.

I can see the photo now. That chin spot does look angry. It is quite common for CP spots to get infected. If it gets worse or his temp goes up again, i’d seek medical advice.

oh bless him, was the chin spot one of the first spots you noticed? I found the first few spots became the biggest angriest ones and the ones that left little scars. So may be that it’s just that. I would definitely give the doc a buzz though if the fever is out of control. Just remember no nurofen for chickenpox only calpol.

I rang 111 and they just said to go the local walk in centre. His temperature isn't too bad during the day and brought down by calpol. It's the nighttime it's spiking. He is 3 almost 4 and he was defiantly feverish last night and I was terrified he was going to have a convulsion. He sleeps with me but he has been undressed all day and night. He has a separate light muslin blanket.

He has been really feverish the past 3 nights and waking up and asking for water. He even wet the bed which he has never done. So if he is the same tonight I will take him to urgent care.

The spot on his chin and neck was the first two to come out yes. The redness hasn't got any worse in last few hours and just been putting cream on it and stopping him scratching.

Yes I know no ibuprofen as first thing I did was check NHS website.

Thanks so much for replies.
Fingers crossed he starts to improve and the chin one doesn't get any worse.

Just an update for anyone else that finds themselves in a similar situation.
Ended up admitted hospital Sunday morning.
Went to out of hours doctors on Saturday and given antibiotics for skin infection. Took two doses and then Sunday early hours his neck and chin was completely swollen and red rash all over it. Took him to the hospital and a rash all over his body. High temp and high heart rate.
Admitted for 48hrs stay on Iv antibiotics. Blood test showed infection as well. They was talking about possible surgery to drain a possible abscess. Thankfully his ultrasound showed its just a skin infection cellitus not an abscess.
Thank god went to A&E though as he went downhill fast.

Oh gosh, how scary for you both! Thanks for sharing the update though, never know who might stumble on it having searched for CP advise themselves
