Thought this was interesting on the measles surge in London. A very sensitive look at the mothers choosing not to vaccinate. https://dispatch-media.com/the-london-mums-bringing-back-measles/

I can't read this but unless for medical reasons they don't need sensitivity, they need blunt talking.

This, with bells on.

I can only read a bit of this too, so don’t know what the reasons are. Some concerns can be addressed with some people, with others it’s like playing chess with a pigeon. Given a proportion of cases won’t present with a fever or rash or may even be symptomatic, we probably don’t have a clue how many cases there are. Vaccinations are our best tool (or the only one really as we do nothing to alleviate the spread of airborne infections).

I’m so old i had measles before the vaccinations were introduced. It was so painful I can remember it all this time later. I also have a friend whose relative was left permanently disabled by measles. I cannot understand why parents want to risk their children catching it. So selfish.

We are doing delayed and spread out vaccinations for our children.
We also dont live near any cities or large towns. We live remote and not had any issues with these diseases. I can imagine living in the city, poor diet and cramped environment the risks are so much bigger.

But can I ask why you are delaying and spreading them out? The NHS schedule them specifically in such a way to provide maximum protection. Their schedule is based on science. It doesn’t matter where you live, you could come into contact with anyone who could pass it on. Stop relying on other people to provide herd immunity, this is just as bad as people who don’t vaccinate!

I can’t read the article in full so perhaps it is explained there but why the hell is it the MUMS being blamed alone ?? Presume these kids have dads too?

RantzNotBantz · 01/08/2025 11:22

I wish people would provide readable links or else c&p the text.

Anyway, anyone who doesn’t vaccinate needs to spend a day with my friend and former colleague who lost her sight as a result of measles.

With many repercussions beyond the obvious. A child may need to move away from home to access a full education, for example. My friend never fully recovered the relationship with her Mum.

Selfish and irresponsible to put your child at the slightest risk.

Why do you think city people have poorer diets and more cramped environments? Why would you take the risk? What if one of your children catches it tomorrow and is left disabled? How are you going to justify that to them for the rest of their lives? We didn't vaccinate you because we thought your diet was better than a city diet?

Yeah, but signing up for stuff is tedious and there's no need, if the author or website wanted people to view their article they could just make it viewable without people handing over personal data.

Does it mention any of the unvaccinated kids fathers? Why is it women bringing back measles?
