Does my baby have a flat head?

Hi everyone!

i can’t view my previous post for replies so thought I’d post again. I was feeding my four month old yesterday and thought I noticed a flat spot on one side of his head. Can anyone else see this and if so, any ideas on how to correct or am I just being unnecessarily paranoid? Can babies naturally just have different shaped craniums/heads? He absolutely hates tummy time. Pictures attached.

Thank you.

I'd say that's a lovely little head (little because he's a baby, not little in comparison to other babies). 😀

I agree very normal looking!

Well very cute … but normal looking too ☺️

Little cutie looks fine to me as well! One thing I found that helped with tummy time was realising they don't need to do it all in one go so you can do bits and pieces across the day so you're building it up very gradually or doing it on your chest etc where they may feel more secure.

Nothing flat about that head!

100% if this is your first baby yes they have different shaped heads. My 2 DSs have different shaped heads and I was concerned but as they got older all got rounder and they start staying uproght more often it sorts itself out. My 2nd DS hated tummy time. But i would so 2 mins every few hours. And after a couple months all was fine.

That looks like a lovely shaped head.

Nothing wrong at all. My DS's had a very wonky head. Really odd and I was worried. I debated whether to pay to get him one of those helmet things. In the end I left it. He's 21 now, has a serious girlfriend, is at Cambridge doing very well at a STEM subject which looks like it's going to earn him a very good living, so I don't think it's held him back. Can you see it now? I suppose the crown of his head where the top of the parting is is maybe not central if you really studied it, but honestly, I don't regret not getting anything done about it, and he's never ever mentioned it himself.

oh and my nephew also had a flat head at the back and same applies to him - has done very very well academically, got the serious girlfriend, doing just great. As they get older, everything changes and their hair gets thicker so you don't notice anything.

However, I do wonder what happens in later laugh if their hair thins, would they be self-conscious at their head shape? But then again, by that time, they would have hopefully achieved what they wanted to achieve in life and would be confident enough to just brush off any minor mis-shapes.
