Any paediatric dentists? Potential dead tooth and abscess?

My 5 year old fell off his scooter in October and bashed his front tooth. We got it checked at the dentist and they said it wasn't wobbly but to monitor.
It has gradually been discolouring and in the last few days a white spot has developed on the gum above it. The spot is painless and he hasn't mentioned at all.
We're currently abroad, returning in the early hours of Wednesday and will head to the dentist then, but wondered if anyone can advise/ share experiences in the meantime.

The tooth doesn't look much more discoloured than the surrounding ones, so I'd say it may not be dead. An abscess would usually be painful. Maybe put bonjella or whatever they call it where you are on it and get some painkillers in case it does start. Then see dentist as soon as you can on arrival. But try not to worry.

Yep that's a sinus. Give it a little squeeze and see if you can get the pus out. Antibiotics when you get back. If it's not sore that's fine but paracetamol and ibuprofen if it becomes sore.

Thanks both. Do you think the tooth will need to be removed?

Antibiotics are not indicated and unless the tooth is ready to come out it will need to be removed as it is abcessed . However waiting lists are long and it may well be the tooth comes out by itself before he gets to the top of it.

It's difficult to tell from the photos but are the other teeth stained? Are you still brushing his teeth for him?

my daughter had abscess on her front tooth was painless to start with but she became unwell and had pain lucky enough her dentist took her tooth out on xmas eve and she was ok after and she didn't need antibiotics.

Thsnks all. Both his front two teeth are discoloured, from the fall I think as I still brush for him and militant about it.

So the dentist has prescribed antibiotics and said to leave it until it falls out on its own in a year or so. Seems a bit at odds with what I can see online and from what you've all said above. Urgh, so confusing!
