2.5 year old sudden change in personality

My happy go lucky boy has suddenly changed. He's clingy, doesn't want to do anything and has a meltdown if he doesn't get his way. He always wanted to walk everywhere but now he wants to be carried and cries if you don't. He clung onto me like I might go away when we tried to walk to his uncles house. Everything is, 'don't want to' even nursery which he loves. He's always just run into nursery but now he's having meltdowns when being dropped off. It's just not like him. I know toddlers have tantrums but this just seems out of the blue. He's started waking at night again as well and refusing all naps. He's normally like this when he's ill but it's been a week and a half and no other symptoms. He also gets like this when tired but even when he's had a full nights sleep he's like it. Do you think this is just the terrible 2s catching up or something else?

I have started noting down when my daughter seemingly has a personality transplant for no apparent reason 😂 because I used to stress so much over it before I eventually noticed that once it ends she can do something new/she’s grown/she seems more emotionally developed e.g she’ll say something really thoughtful or empathetic. I think it started about 2.5ish, she’s nearly 3.5 now. We are in one at the moment, waking in the night, being really clingy with me and being unreasonable in the day. After the last one she was nearly 2cm taller, I was baffled!

Interesting, thank you. So maybe he’s about to develop something. He also keeps telling me he’s scared

Well if it’s PANS/PANDAS then it can be successfully treated.
