My 5 year old daughter has been feeling unwell for a few days and has complained of quite bad neck pain in the back of her neck. I have also noticed today that she has lost a bit of weight since I last weighed her a couple of months ago. She is constantly complaining of leg pains aswell. She does have Autism and her diet isn't great so she is waiting for a paediatrics appointment so they can check for nutrient deficiencies.

I took her to the out of hours GP today but they said to contact my GP tomorrow to speed up referral to paediatricians.

I am quite worried about her, she is pale and clearly not well. Does it look like tonsillitis? The doctor didn't seem too concerned but her tonsils look huge to me!

If the GP examined her today then it isn't tonsillitis, he or she would've picked up on that. Are there any white spots on her tonsils? I can't see any from your photo.

Tonsillitis in my DD is truly horrific and I'm never in any doubt. High temperature, vomiting, refusal to eat or drink a single thing, constant crying, very bad breath. I'd take her to your regular GP tomorrow if she's still unwell but I don't think it's her tonsils.

@Emilysmum90 oh okay, thank you! I've never had tonsillitis and neither has my daughter. No not any white spots as far as I can see.

I'm just worried about her, I've never seen her tonsils look like that before, even with other viral infections. I'm finding the neck and leg pain worrying and now an enlarged tonsil.

None of the symptoms you have mentioned are linked to tonsillitis.
Doctors look for white pus on tonsils, swollen glands and a High temperature. It’s very painful to swallow with tonsillitis.
Children’s tonsils are often large.

When I had tonsillitis as a child I always had white pus spots on my tonsils. I can’t see any in the photo you’ve posted. So, no it doesn’t look like tonsillitis. Your DD would have a raging sore throat and would find it difficult to swallow if she had tonsillitis. You could help her brush her tongue and keep her mouth fresh - her tongue looks very coated.
