Movicol. How do you know if a child needs disimpaction or is just slightly constipated?

Hi. ERIC is a great resource if you can call them! How long have they been constipated? How often do they poo? What are their poos like when they do go? X

Thank you! They do one constipated poo a week, but otherwise regular and ‘normal’ poos’ (every other day) Has always strained slightly when going though. Only became a problem these last few weeks crying in pain saying they ‘need to poo’ but can’t. 2 years old.

Ahh poor thing! Do try & call ERIC - I found them invaluable. Impacted poo tends to be smelly, gritty, hard to wipe, sometimes overflow diarrhoea, can be going multiple times a day.. soiling “leaking” poo. If you were to disimpact & it wasn’t needed you would just teach the end result faster & wouldn’t do any harm. It’s messy though & you won’t believe the amount of poo a tiny body can hold! Only way to see true impaction is xray but drs are reluctant due to radiation x
