Black round hard balls found on daughters scalp

I suspected my daughter might have caught lice from school. I spotted one or two eggs and that’s it so far so I’ll be keeping an eye. The eggs are always white and much tinier . These black balls seem stuck to her scalp but only at the very from. They don’t look like typical lice eggs. There was a bit of it just at the very front the rest of her head is fine . The only other thing I can think of is that we have had a a carpet beetle issue in the past and could it be from them. I’m spiralling any advice would help please

Photo on a white background to focus as cannot see. But could it be a tick?

No idea but that’s not a headlice egg

Are they definitely alive? Not just seeds off a tree, specs of dirt or something? I’d give her hair a good wash and see if they reappear.

Headlice leave black specks on the scalp. Then there are white eggs (spent) or brown eggs (live). Then of course the lice themselves.

No you can just pull it off almost like dirt because they’re round hard balls . I am doing that tonight she has long and thick hair and I’m going to comb it through with a live comb. I’ve just never seen these black specks before. Her hair is black though . E have had a heatwave which hasn’t probably helped . Just wondering if I should just use a scalp scrubber or is that not good for kids

and no they aren’t alive

Really? I’ve never knew about black specks? They are hard and round in shape mostly but do seem stuck on the scalp . Wondering if something like a scalp scrubber would be ok to take off any left over. And then just observe if it comes back after lice treatment . I’ve not found any actual lice I’m assuming I just found it early. She wasn’t even scratching . With her long her she’s just more vulnerable to them but I’m quite diligent so I’ve caught it in early stages in the past. I think it might be time to go short with the hair though. Thanks

They are nits.

This is from the British Association of Dermatologists. Sounds like lice droppings:

What does a lice-infested scalp look like?
An affected scalp carries a mixture of the following:

  • Eggs containing developing lice – firmly stuck to the hair shafts near to the scalp. They are grey or brown and the size of a pin head. They take 7-10 days to hatch. New lice will then lay more eggs 7-10 days after they hatch.
  • Empty egg cases (nits) are white and shiny, and also firmly stuck to the hairs, but further away from the scalp surface.
  • Immature lice are smaller than adult lice.
  • An average of 10 adult lice may be seen at one time, though some scalps carry many more.
  • Lice droppings – most easily seen as dark specks on pillows or clothing.

These may be difficult to spot. The sides and back of the scalp are usually more heavily infested.

My 2 girls have head lice. Ive treated them and myself. Im struggling to act naturally with them as I cant stop thinking the lice are crawling everywhere, which they are not. Any ideas on how to stop this feeling.

Ours had lice a few times and I never saw anything like that, even when it was bad, so I don't think that's lice, op
