I’m panicking because I did not know you should not use sunscreen on babies and have been applying sunscreen on his skin for the last 2 months. Looking for reassurance.

I think the advice is mainly due to the fact that sunscreens can irritate their delicate skin and cause rashes. If your baby has been fine then I would not worry too much! I also wonder if some of the advice is to ensure parents keep small babies out of the sun altogether. Some people might think having their baby in direct sunlight is okay if they had lathered sunscreen on them.

Thank you so much for replying. His skin hasn’t showed any signs of irritation

I think you’re fine… my three had sunscreen from before six months and all have really perfect skin.
As an aside…. I used an old makeup brush to apply to their little faces. Now they are primary age I spray and slap it on!

I think the advice is because you should keep babies out of direct sunlight for the first 6 months - ie keep them in the shade, have a hat on etc, rather than because the suncream itself is harmful
