What is this rash on daughters neck?

Discovered this rash on my 3 year olds neck under her hair. I think it’s itchy as she was scratching it. Is this just likely heat rash from the warm weather or something else?

What is this rash on daughters neck?

Have you checked her for nits? My kids used to get bites on their necks sometimes when they had nits.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll have a careful look for nits tonight when she gets home from nursery. There was a report of nits at nursery on her last day before we went on holiday for a week so a possibility I guess. Haven’t noticed anything but it’s a battle to comb her hair so I might not have noticed.

Might be folliculitis due to the heat. Will she let you tie her hair back to air it out? I would also try a bit of Sudocrem on it once it's dry.

@wishIwasonholiday10 i don't want this to sound patronising but you need to get loads of cheap conditioner and check each section of hair with a nit comb
If you find any you need to keep going until clear. Put white kitchen roll underneath to catch any. It's time consuming but strangely addictive.
Once a child goes to nursery/school etc there will be loads of outbreaks. I've spent over a decade working at a primary school and some children are permanently infested. Ive seem them crawl onto desk tops when a child has put their head onto the surface.
I used to do a precautionary check of all my female dcs at lesst once a week. Ds had white blond short hair and I spot a random crawler the second he comes out of school.
When you say you'll have a careful look you don't mean with your eyes do you? I'm assuming you mean with a nit comb OP. You likely won't notice anything with your naked eye until your dd is riddled. .
It's likely she's caught them from nursery if its going round and she's itching her head alongside the rash on the back of her neck. Does she not have her hair tied up if its a battle to comb her hair? This would be non negotiable for me. Most primary schools will insist that hair is tied back once she goes. There are tea tree sprays you can buy that make hair easier to brush. Nits apparently hate that smell as well.
Unfortunately if she's got nits it's likely everyone else with close contact has them too.
Good luck OP

Well I can’t see any nits but I don’t have a nit comb yet to properly check (will try to get one tomorrow). She is not itching her head, just the back of her neck and I haven’t noticed any itching while we were away.
I’ll try putting all her hair up tomorrow to get it off her neck. She has ringlet type curls (not clear in the photo as hair is wet). I usually comb out the tangles and just tie up the front bit so it’s out of her eyes.
