I got this burn yesterday and it’s white.. do I need to get this checked out? The white bit isn’t painful what so ever, only the surrounding red bit. Will attach the blister prior

For clarity, are you a child (under 18) as this is posted in children’s health? Just because it changes the answer for me. How big would you say the burn is?

creekyjohn · 22/06/2025 22:18

How did you do it?

Bethanyrx · 22/06/2025 22:18

Sorry I didn’t mean to post to the children’s health! And I’m not sure how to delete!

Don’t worry about it! Just checking for the answer. For an adult they say to get it checked if it’s the size of the palm of your hand or bigger, it’s hard to tell from the photo but it looks smaller than that? If there’s any signs of infection I’d get it checked but if it’s small then it might be ok? I’d call into a pharmacy tomorrow for advice

MassiveOvaryaction · 22/06/2025 22:21

Pharmacist told me years ago (advice may have changed) that anything over 50p size needs seeing/treating by a professional, less than that can be treated at home. The fact you don't have pain could mean you've damaged your nerve endings. I'd say at the very least you should see a pharmacist.

As @ToKittyornottoKitty says though that's as an adult. I'd be taking a child to urgent care.

I used to work in burns , looks deep where the white bit is and Its a worry its not painful (means its deeper than superficial). See GP practice nurse or go to A and E/walk in . They will access whether you need a burns centre. Please cover with a non adherent (non stick dressing) with bandage over the top and dont leave it to air because it coukd get infected.

That’s what I was worried about. The loss of feeling in it. I went to see a pharmacist yesterday when I did it and he didn’t seem to have a clue, gave me some antiseptic cream and sent me on my way. Which I’ve been keeping it clean. The blister popped during the night, then regrew again this morning. Then popped again

How did you do it?

Piping hot cheese sauce splashed every where. I’ve got 3 huge blisters on my chest, and one under my nose. But more worried about the one on my wrist!

White and pain free means it’s deep. Needs seeing.

Will it be okay until tomorrow you think rather than going to a&e tonight?
