I took my girl to the OOH GP over the weekend with a spotty rash, she had a tummy bug last week and he said if it’s a viral rash it will be gone by tuesday but wasn’t sure. I contacted my GP today but there was no appointments left so will try tomorrow. She’s already had chicken pox and they don’t look like pox, not currently ill
Just looking for opinions and reassurance as I’m quite anxious as my dad had just passed away and I can’t think straight.
thank you all

When my DD was young (now 23) whenever she was unwell she would have a ‘non specific viral rash’ which would always go in a few days.
i remember going to the Doctor about it and being told this was what it was and I would always re-read the section in Child healthcare books about it. I concluded it was her body’s way of dealing with ‘fighting off’ something.
i always did the glass check and it was never meningitis…. I looked at your photo and my first thought was ‘non specific viral rash’.

My 10 year old DD is similar. Whenever she is really stressed or getting unwell she develops a rash

It definitely doesn’t look like a rash to worry about.

greengreyblue · 18/06/2025 17:43

ALWAYS go by how your child is.

yestothat · 18/06/2025 17:50

My dd now 10 has similar on and off throughout her life, she just has sensitive skin.
it doesn’t look at all worrying and if she’s fine in her self I wouldn’t be concerned

One possibility https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pityriasis_rosea

We don't even know for sure which viruses cause which types of rash! If you Google viral exanthem you can give SO many possibilities.

A rash on its own is rarely cause for concern. If your child is well otherwise, it's likely just one of those things! Could be heat, allergy, acne?!
