First time poster here so apologies in advance! I've got a 2 year old girl who has always been a great sleeper and bedtime is never an issue. She is also a brilliant drinker, will have 4-6 bottles of juice a day and has been a great eater; we have meals together at the table and she's not fussy with many things at all. Recently she has been waking pretty much hourly through the night, crying hysterically (we've even brought her in with us and previously this settles her but has failed recently) and she has hardly been eating or drinking. We offer her whatever and sometimes she will ask for a snack but when it's opened/first bite or two she becomes uninterested. I guess my question is am i just over thinking things, my thoughts went to possibly does she have a uti because she keeps crouching down or lying on her front and is exceptionally whiney/clingy... Any advice or is this just a regression/stage they go through? She doesn't have a temperature, if anything she's on the cooler side especially her hands and feet but otherwise seems OK?

There’s obviously something not right if shes not eating or drinking and is distressed. Have you not taken her to the GP? Trust your instinct - you know your child best.

I know this wasn’t the point of your post but my jaw dropped open when I read 4-6 bottles of juice a day! That’s way too much. Her teeth are going to really suffer. She should be drinking milk and water only at that age.

Maybe she has an upset tummy from all the juice plus the impact on her teeth. As pp said water or milk only needed at this age. Even age 5+ 1 glass of dilute juice would be plenty not 5 or 6.

When I say juice, it's the tiniest drop in a big bottle of water, and it's sugar free. She doesnt like water so it's just to flavour it I suppose

She's had juice since about 7 months old though and it's only a tiny drop in a big bottle of water to flavour it as she's not a fan of plain water, plus it's sugar free cordial not like straight fruit juice

This sounds like constipation to me. & Most dilutes are chronic for gut problems - fruit juice is actually healthier in moderate amounts.

I thought maybe this too but she's really quite regular, she's only stopped being so regular when she's not had as much fluid 🥴

Look up constipation with overflow to see if it fits at all. Sometimes if they're regular and loose it's a sign of a back-up. Any chance their back molars are coming in either?

Trust your gut. That’s the sort of thing my son does when somethings not right. I get told by my husband or in laws that my son is fine during the day so I’m wrong but I’ve been right every time! Take her to the doctors and get her checked out

also, I think that amount of juice is fine

My suggestion is to video the crying, the crouching/laying and anything else you’re concerned about to show the GP so they don’t fob you off
