Anyone have any experience with circumsision recovery. He had his Operation done Friday, today is day 3 at home. Omg been the worse day today he has cried so much in pain its horrible to see him so sad. Is there anything I can do to help or help it heal quicker! He is 3 years old and still in nappies which makes it abit trickier.

When will the pain get better? When will he feel more comfortable? Anyone?

Thanks

It's awful to watch them go through, mine was around 4 or 5 when his was done for medical reasons. There isn't much you can do, just keep regular pain relief going

Make sure there is plenty of vaseline on the nappies to stop them sticking

The thing is he is even spitting medicine out, i managed to sneak in his drink yesterday and day before but hes realised now and wont take it just spits it straight out. I have been doing the vaseline in nappies. X

Hi op . My little boy had a circumcision due to a birth defect called hypospadia. His pain died down after day 4/5. He was totally healed by week 6. I left his nappy off as much as possible put a towel down where ever he was. If he’s not taking calpol or painkillers point the syringe in between his teeth and cheek .

Would salt baths help? Salt aids healing

BreakingBroken · 09/06/2025 19:57

the getting the pain medication in him will be hugely helpful. more vaseline and it shouldn't be uncomfortable much longer. when is he finding it painful? when playing? if so tight fitting pants so there is less movement/rubbing? the site is similar skin to the mouth, so it heals very quickly (generally within 24 hours) it will heal with a whitish looking soft "scab" similar again to a cut inside the mouth.
the nappies might be drying the vaseline out, you need large gobs of the stuff. i suggest tight fitting pants.

I tried between teeth and cheek he just spits it out no matter how I give it him 😢

Its strange as yesterday he seat okay little crys when he was weeing i think but running around like a lunatic. He has probably over done himself no particular time he cries, except he defo cries when weeing and today sometimes when moving. It looked stuck down abit today so I have cleaned it and made sure its not stuck down. Can I put vaseline on it? Or just in the nappy i will put more on see if that helps. It is healing as can see the scab starting to form.

X

I used the back of a teaspoon to spread tons of vaseline in the nappy as I think it dries out quickly. Like a quarter of a tub each time

Boymumma3 · 09/06/2025 20:19

Hes currently asleep so iv took his nappy off for abit so can get some air to it then I will do another nappy loaded with vaseline! X

100% the more vaseline the better might be the right time to toilet train so no weeing in nappies.
although it might mean cutting tablets sometimes tablets are easier (smaller) and can be slipped in a spoon of honey or jam. where i live you can buy childrens pain relief in suppository form easily popped in place when changing a nappy or after a wash.

Get an oral syringe and put it to the side of his mouth, no talk about it, just get it down quick. He must have regular ibuprofen and paracetamol,it'll be agony otherwise. Lidocaine is good too.

Sorry, missed your update, glad he's turned a corner .

Luckily i managed to sneak it back in his drinks, we changed the drink 😂

But yes looks like its healing well now, I was wondering when he could have a bath? Sure they said a week. X
