Baby has a wart

Hi there,

Looking for advice. My 9.5 month old has developed a wart on his little finger (don't know how as nobody else in the family has them). Saw a nurse today who has said that because of his age then they won't offer any treatment. It started about a month ago and looked like a little blister at first, so I thought he must have somehow caught it on something, but is now looking decidedly warty.

I want to get rid of it as quickly as possible. Before it spreads. Obviously concerned as hands are in mouth a lot too and really don't want them getting on his face/mouth. Finding it quite upsetting for my little boy as worried others will judge.

  • What can I do to try and get rid of it safely for him?
  • How can I stop it spreading?

Thank you.

You can't do anything.

As you've already been told - he's too young for any treatment.

If people judge that's their problem.

They may spread or it may disappear on it's own.

I think you mostly need to manage your own reaction to this.

I had a couple of these on my fingers as a 9 year old. They completely disappeared within a couple of years and I did not have them in secondary school. Nobody at all at school noticed, in fact one of the other girls had one.

Any other suggestions from anyone?
I feel like he's been so unlucky to pick this up.

It will go in time. My daughter had one on her leg, went after about a year.
I got one on my finger a couple of years ago and it eventually disappeared.
