Baby bilateral hip dysplasia

Looking for anyone with similar experiences - my DD diagnosed with bilateral hip dysplasia at exactly 3 months old. Fitted with the rhino brace on the same day - we’re now just 48 hours in to a 6 week stint, 23/7, until her next ultrasound. Am I deluded in thinking she might be weaned off the brace in 6 weeks? Below is the initial report we received.

Both femoral heads appear normal. Ossification centres are present for both femoral heads.
Acetabulum appears shallow on both sides. Reduced acetabular angles on both
sides. 43% femoral head coverage at rest on the right with 45% femoral head
coverage at rest on the left. Mild instability on stressing on the left with femoral head coverage reduced to 44%. Moderate instability on the right with femoral head coverage reduced to 36%.

Hi, sorry to hear about your dd. I have a similar story (dd was breach, so automatically was x-rayed) diagnosed the same at a similar age. Extra rolls around the legs etc. Was told at the time there was a higher risk due to breach but also possibly hereditary.
From the report I would probably be prepared for a bit longer in the harness. This is important “femoral head coverage”. My dd’s weren’t developed so the harness didn’t work.
I can’t remember her percentage but hers was quite extreme. She had an operation when she was one.
I was in this situation 17yrs ago so I assume a lot has changed.
Also, my dd is now 18 & you would never know she had it. Hopefully the harness will work with preservative 🙏

My child had this diagnosed and was put in the leg brace. This was fifty years ago and l expect treatment has improved since then. There has been no problems at all since treatment stopped, swims a lot.

Oof that sounds brutal. I really think it’s best not to rush it. DD had DDH in one hip, in a pavlik harness (both hips up though!) from 4 weeks old.
23/7 for 8 weeks - was meant to be 12 but they thought was doing well, so took her down to nights only for 4 weeks.
Then had to go back in it 23/7 for another 8 weeks because they shouldn’t have taken her out of it!
It’s so miserable but honestly just let it to do its thing.
Feel for you!
