Teenager's and Fibromyalgia

Hi has anyone's teenager got Fibromyalgia or has anyone any experience of this, my daughter is 14 and for the last 8 months she has had really bad lower back ache and has said her whole body is just aching she is always tired, she struggles in school with work as she finds it really hard to take learning in, it's not just in school time etc she finds it hard even in school holidays etc she is still the same but it's really starting to affect her day to day life now could this be Fibromyalgia or has anyone experienced anything like this? It could be lots of things.
Has she had blood tests? Could be anaemia or vitamin deficiency.
Normally Fibromyalgia is only diagnosed when everything else has been ruled out.

Has she had any bloods done? Lots of autoimmune issues start appearing in teenage years - I have many and this is when I started to suffer. It may be fibromyalgia but make sure you have a full screening for things like hypothyroidism, lupus, adrenal insufficiency, coeliac etc etc as all these things are easier to treat than fibromyalgia.

Fibromyalgia is just an umbrella term, it doesn't really mean anything. It's what you fer diagnosed with it tests haven't shown anything else.
I would push for further investigation in someone so young.

There are a lot of other things it could also be.

glandular fever is common in teens. Vitamin deficiency also. Long Covid is also a possibility.

What’s her lifestyle like? Sleep, diet, exercise, habits? These are the first questions that should be asked.

Dehydration can also be the cause of backache - it's the kidney's hurting really, but if you're not aware of that as a possibility, it will just feel like a backache.

Just by way of ruling dehydration out, it could take a week or more / longer of consistently upping water (not just any fluids) intake to around several litres a day before you'd notice an improvement - google it! What I suggest here is just off the top of my head ...

Yeah we have been to GP lots of times and she has had lots of blood test and all seems to be ok we thought it could have been her periods so go out her on pill this has eased pain in her stomach but still all other symptoms, her sleep and diet are good drinks lots of water, vegetables and fruits etc

How was ur son diagnosed etc and how does it affect him day to day? (If you don't mind) I just keep taking her docs and she has had lots of bloods done etc but just keeps being told to take pain relief which doesn't do anything 😔

Yeah her phone is out her room, she does do a bit of swimming and badminton but after 10 mins of badminton she is exhausted and out of breath, weight is ok

True. ME, long covid, fibromyalgia are all eye-rollers for GPs. It's a diagnosis in the absence of a diagnosis.

She does p.e at school, yeah she goes to school no bullying but she finds school hard they have put her on ASD pathway as well now. I haven't mentioned Fibromyalgia to her it was more just a thought to try and find something that could be causing her all these symptoms

It's just worrying as her mum what is causing all these symptoms and not knowing what is causing it

Depression can cause this type of thing.
