Myopia control

DD’s (11) optician is recommending myopia control glasses so we’re weighing up the options as her dad has very poor eyesight. I read that the glasses need to be worn for 12 hours a day but I think she’s in the habit of taking them on and off as she mainly needs then for board work etc. so I’m wondering if contact lenses might be better as obviously she won’t be taking them on and off all day. Anyone have any experience? Daily disposable lenses are obviously more pricey than glasses.

Younger than your DD, my child has used the lenses you wear at night to correct myopia. Took a while to get used to but really successful.

Would night lenses be an option?

Does she not like wearing glasses?
Is that why she takes them off? If so contact lenses would mean at least she gets the therapeutic effect of them.
My 10 year old has these glasses. She's had them for a year now and her prescription hasn't changed so far.
Absolutely worth is as I have bad eyes.
My DD is very good at keeping her glasses on though so the contact lenses weren't a debate.

They are amazing- anything to stop progressive myopia

Would she be ok with contacts?

I got them at 18 and struggled a bit with touching my eye

She’s keen to try contacts.
