My DD woke me up after she had a poo and passed loads of blood and had a few moments of it dripping out too

Shes had some pain after school today which we thought was PMT I’ve got health anxiety and stressing. She’s got an uncomfortable pain in her bottom and mild belly pain at the moment

I’ve called our out of hours provider and waiting for them to call us. There’s a million and one causing going through my mind

Given your description of loads of blood and pain, has the hospital entered your mind?

Emma330912 · 02/05/2025 04:30

This has happened to one of my sons a few times, I was terrified when it 1st happened, the whole toilet bowl was covered in bright red blood, I internally panicked & I rang an ambulance i think, & got a taxi to a&e, it continued at the hospital too.
Definitely take your daughter to hospital to check her out, but with my son the Doctors said it was likely a burst internal hemorrhoid & to keep an eye on the frequency. It can happen on and off for him randomly every year or 2, accompanied with diarrhea & cramps.
Hope you daughter feels better soon, it can be quite scary

CapricornKitty · 02/05/2025 06:06

Is it possible the blood was period blood - you mentioned PMT. I’ve had this in the past when (unexpected) period blood gets mixed up with a movement and it’s given me a fright.
If not that, a haemorrhoid sounds possible, especially if the blood was bright red and her bottom feels sore.
Hope your daughter feels better soon.

Sorry we did think of hospital but wanted to avoid the public hospital if at all possible. She’s otherwise okay still a bit of on and off belly pain. Definitely not period and has come from her bottom. We have been to see our GP she’s got blood in her urine too and it’s really dark. Despite still bleeding her numbers are all within range thankfully

She’s unsure why she’s bleeding but we are going to paediatric surgical assessment at 5pm in the hospital we wanted to. Bad parent views or not we needed a referral in and can’t simply turn up.

Blood in the urine is never normal. I hope the hospital take it seriously.

TrailerRoller · 02/05/2025 15:22

Our GP said there’s many reasons but why blood in urine and in her bowels he’s unsure

How are you getting on at surgical assessment?

Joystir59 · 02/05/2025 17:46

I hope all turns out well for her

TrailerRoller · 02/05/2025 20:36

Good they’ve taken loads of bloods, had a belly ultrasound and CT scan. She’s booked for endoscopy and colonoscopy in the morning. They want poo sample but she’s not been able to do that yet. She had a big poo just before we left for the hospital and although painful was normal and no blood. They’ve not said what it might be yet. My thoughts are running through my head at the worst outcomes x

I hope she’s sorted soon OP. I have had similar when I had kidney stones. Is she 100% it’s came from her bottom?

TrailerRoller · 02/05/2025 20:55

Yes 100% sure they’ve asked many times today and she’s sure

Absolutely amazing they are doing all those test, some kids have to wait weeks/months for those thorough kind of test.
Hope all is well and you get some answers.

I think OP might not be in the Uk. She mentions wanting to avoid the public hospital.

TrailerRoller · 05/05/2025 15:39

She’s doing okay still a bit sore. They found and removed polyps in her colon. They’ve been sent for biopsies and should be back next week

Yes we are not in the Uk and not in the public system. We are aware this causes some controversy but thankful all the tests were done within 48 hours. There’s someone on the scan in or by her bladder so they’ll put the camera into her bladder tomorrow. We are back for a day case only but will be more sedation
