How to dress baby for summer

Hi all,

I had a winter baby, I know they say dress the baby is one layer extra. But looking at the temperature of next week I don't think it's the best way. It's looking hot, I've got the sleep guidelines for how to dress them for bed. I know you have to monitor them, by feeling the tummy, not in sunlight etc.

But can ayone with experience, please help for day time. Just on a general guideline, as I get nervous, I don't wanna overheat or freeze my DS.

What should a baby be wearing daytime play at 21, 22, 23 and 24 ?

Sorry wasnt sure where to post this under.
Thanks

I’ve just bought a load of summer clothes in the next size up for my baby who’s currently almost 5 months. Over the winter she’s been in long sleeve vests plus a sleep suit/outfit and then a cardigan. Plus a coat when outside. For the summer I’ve bought her vests with cami straps plus a lot of short leg and sleeve rompers to wear over the top. I’ll also have her in short socks and a sun hat plus a cardigan when out unless it’s absolutely boiling.

Same as above, sleeved bodysuits and sleeveless rompers and then a pack of cheap, light leggings from Sainsbury's for layering, with cardigans for extra warmth if needed. When it was hot at night or for naps, my baby wore a nappy and maybe a muslin tucked in low and tight below the arms as a cover instead of a blanket. We just got a 1.5 tog sleeping bag for spring.

I don’t think the extra layer advice applies when it’s 20+ and sunny. I was looking at pictures of when my baby was under 1 and when out and about if it was hot enough for the adult to be in a vest and shorts, baby was in a t-shirt and shorts also. I think two layers and a cardigan would be usual for April if it’s say 15 and cloudy but not if it’s 24 and sunny. Obviously you have to be careful with babies not to be in direct sun for too long, or when temperature changes when being in a shadier cooler spot, having a light large muslin cloth that you can put over baby as needed when in the buggy can be a good idea. Inside the house baby would be in short sleeve and shorts also if it was summer heat-wave like temperatures. It also varies throughout the day, light cardigan might be needed in the morning, only t-shirt at mid-day on a hot day.
