I think my DD has just bitten fully through her lip

Fell at the park. Teeth all fine.
Cut either side. She's usually quite tough but doesn't want me to really look at it. Currently she's watching TV with an ice lolly - my gut instinct is to keep it clean and let it be, should I be doing something more ? I don't want to be lax - I can have a tendency to be.

I think I would get that looked at to be honest op. It does look like she's bitten right through.

Where2GoNext · 09/04/2025 14:51

My DC did this and it needed suturing in A&E.

Thefunnel · 09/04/2025 14:53

I'd say glue at least, probably a stitch. I hope you have a walk in centre nearby.

FiveTreeHill · 09/04/2025 14:53

She probably hasn't bitten right through, she's probably bitten one tooth on one side and one on the other

I wouldn't suture it. I would just leave it and keep it clean

Ohdearwhatnow4 · 09/04/2025 14:54

Think I'd ask for medical advise, would your nurse at doctors see her?

wandawaves · 09/04/2025 14:55

My kids did this a few times! I did nothing. Mouths heal very quickly.

Yes I did wonder this, especially as the cut looks smaller than her new, large , front tooth.
No walk in centre so I've just sent photos to the GP.
I find these parenting decisions the trickiest to be honest - I'm either too lax or too over the top, and nothing in between. Thanks.

Also no gluing. Glue should not be used on the lip and won't give a good aesthetic result.

That will heal absolutely fine without any intervention. I would clean it with some salt water. But its a very small cut on the outside that's well opposed.

Thanks for everyone's help.
