Hoping someone can shed some light on what I’m going through with my 5 year old -
For the last 3 weeks my 5 year old keeps saying ‘I’m going to be sick ‘ - he isn’t actually sick . He’s eating well and is ok in himself , the only thing I’ve noticed is that he is a little more easily irritated than normal . I’ve taken him to see our gp who felt his tummy and couldn’t find anything wrong - he has continued with the ‘I’m going to be sick ‘ every day since - should I be taking him back to the gp and demanding stool/ blood tests ? A scan ? So unsure what to do x

Has he heard it somewhere? One of his school friends? A book you have been reading together?

When does it happen? Does he actually fetch? Could it be feeling anxious/ butterflies in tummy? When mine were that age they struggled to explain how they felt unwell and often said tummy ache when it wasn’t that eg sore throat

Retch not fetch! Also has he seen someone be sick recently? Might have upset him

I don’t think so but in January he woke up with tummy ache and it was very quickly followed up with him being sick as he had a tummy bug so maybe he associates any little twinge with being sick - who knows love x

There’s no specific time of day it happens - happens any time of day /evening x in January he woke up with tummy ache and it was very quickly followed up with him being sick as he had a tummy bug so maybe he associates any little twinge with being sick - who knows love x

You did the right thing taking him to the Drs . You say he is eating ok . If he isn't waking up in the night saying it or also because of a pain , and weeing & pooing as normal ? Then just ignore him , by that I mean don't show much concern or maybe suggest a sip of drink or tell him to go get his favourite toy etc,, that sort of thing .

Thanks so much for the advice - my husband is very much on the wave length . He never wakes in the night in pain. He had a tummy bug in January so I’m wondering if he associates every little niggle with being sick 🤷🏻‍♀️

He's probably enjoying the concern your giving him , hence the suggestion of a distraction technique 😂

I need to give some tough love I think . The dr couldn’t find anything wrong with him, hence me debating pushing for some bloods but also don’t want to sound like a neurotic parent 😬
