Hello , I’ve posted on this before a couple of days ago. Just curious to see if anyone’s children had the same.
my daughter had been formula fed from birth as I wasn’t able to breastfeed. She’s on SMA Little steps. What started as colic. Fussing after feeds, hard belly, spit up a little and hick ups all the time l.I got her some colif which worked for a couple of days. Now she’s being sick 30 mins after feeds, almost brings everything up , 4 sick spells, also had one funny breathing spell during a feed. She’s crying/screeching after a feed. I’m clueless on what to do. GP won’t see me as she’s not registered. 111 told me to go A&E but I don’t want to be sat there with a newborn unless I really have too. Has anyone experienced this.

How old is she, OP? First thing is that you really must register her with the GP - if your GP won't register her, then you both need to find another practice. The midwives / HV should have told you how important this was, especially for sorting out the 6week newborn check and 8week vaccinations etc.

How much is she feeding and how often? I was bf and topping up with formula, but one of my DDs really needed little and often (rather than big feeds). It was quite frustrating as I felt like i never got a break, but it did help. She still has a tiny appetite now at 1yo. Are you doing lots of bicycle legs after bathtime increase she is a bit constipated? What bottles are you using and are you pace feeding? You can also try a different formula as some babies don't get on with certain brands but you might want to try other things first.

DD did get diagnosed with reflux and we were prescribed infant gaviscon, which helped as well but we tried all the other things first to avoid over medicating.

She’s a week old

If she’s not keeping any feeds down and is projectile vomiting you need to go to A&E could be reflux, could be a blockage

Superscientist · 27/03/2025 12:52

It could be a cows milk protein allergy.
Given they are a week old I think I would be giving the midwives a call for advice and get the forms to register at the GP asap
I'd also look if you have an infant feeding team.

I would go to a&e. The children department is not as bad as the usual section, and you'll be seen quickly
