Sudden pinprick rash

I know, MN is not the place to get proper medical advice but it's too late for the pharmacy. DD, 15, has been mildly unwell gor a few days with a sore throat and feeling a bit off-colour. Nothing too serious. About 30 minutes ago she came to me with a dark red pinprick rash that had suddenly appeared on her chin. She doesn't seem especially unwell but the horrors of sepsis and a non-blanching rash keep popping into my head. Does anyone have experience of this type of rash? I'm uploading a picture but I know rashes aren't always very clear.

I'm unsure but didn't want to read and not reply..I'd suggest calling 111 if you're concerned
Hope she is feeling better soon

Any non blanching rash has to be seen urgently (paediatric nurse)

How did you get on @lavenderlou did you get her seen? Hope she’s ok.

Ds used to get these regularly (and sometimes more alarming versions).

Firstly the GP always sent him to get a blood test at A&E because he said the possibilities were severe if it was something bad.

However firstly it never was anything other than a viral rash. Secondly, as you said, he was always pretty cheerful and lively, and still drinking fine. A&E told me that basically any of the serious illnesses that he would be far iller than he was long before the rash was seen - however we were still right to get him checked.

So basically: Get her checked out, but it's probably fine.

Thanks everyone. She slept in with me so I could keep an eye on her and it had disappeared by the morning. I will know to get it checked out if it happens again.

Updating to say that over the weekend she came out with a rash on her body. Saw GP today and likely to be scarlet fever so the face rash may have been connected, even though I don't think it's typical for scarlet fever to present like that.
