Omg looked in bank tonight and had payment wow guessing hrc and lrm judging by payment, I'm in shock. 🎉

That’s fantastic, I hope it helps make things a little easier for both you and your child.
Go and have yourself a cuppa and let that anxiety go!

Can I ask a question about DLA,sorry to jump on someone self thread - but if you have put the DLA form in and received a notification of the date it was received, then your child develops further health challenges which cause more care needs - which they have, how do you go about adding these to the original documentation?

Just write to them explaining what else is happening and conditions developed, and send evidence, just put your child's name and DOB at the top of all the extra pages and evidence you send. Then they will add this to your child's case.

Care needs will need to have been in place for three months before you can claim. Depending on when your claim was received and when your decision is made it could well be three months. Send in your evidence of the new needs, pop your child’s name, date of birth and reference number ( if you have it ) on each page. It’ll all go through to the decision maker together.

Thanks, we’ve been told it’s 25 weeks so it could well be January 26 & a lot more could happen in that time!

I received back pay into my account this morning, it’s taken 14 weeks exactly from them receiving the forms.

From what I see my side, new claims are averaging around 18-20 weeks at the moment but it fluctuates so much that it’s really hard to give a good ballpark, we’re saying up to 25 weeks just in case.

I had assumed a longer time frame is being given to cover themselves. Added to which I know the neurologist would be contacted at the children’s, that take time and there are two other specialists. - and these things take time

That’s great!
Give them a call if you’d like to know, you might get told to wait for the letter, if they say that ask to be put through to someone who can go through the decision with you and they’ll transfer you.

Best time to call - between 12:30 - 13:30. All call handlers are on the phones at this time due to how the shifts work.

Snowpatrolling · 25/07/2025 13:19

Just rung low rate mobility and mid rate care. Very please, took 14 weeks to the date of scanning. X

MikeRafone · 25/07/2025 17:52

well 2 weeks later got a letter saying it'll be 15 weeks - so a drop of 8 weeks from the original notification - so hopefully November

Unfortunately the timescales on the letters haven’t yet been updated. They’re in the process of removing the time scales from the letters altogether as they fluctuate so much.

Hi,
Please could I ask if they phoned you before you were awarded or not?

Thanks 😊

I didn’t get a call or a text, the back pay just appeared in my account and then a letter followed a few days later.

Just been asked for a birth certificate, id sent child benefit numbers and everything else they'd asked for. So not sure what thats about

Nothing to worry about, it’s just that your child isn’t ‘verified’ on their system records. Happens quite a lot especially if the child is on the younger side. In case you’re not aware, they will send the birth certificate back to you in the same manner you send it to them - if you use track and trace they will return it track and trace, can take a few weeks to come back.

Hey all , great thread
I applied New Claim was received on 30/01 so I’m guessing we have a long wait,
all though you hope it’s nice smooth and quick but wishful thinking.

my daughter is 10 awaiting diagnosis (I left it really late to get her diagnosed as never even knew help was available)
sent in page and half letter from teacher, opticians letter as she has a real strong glasses prescription which adds to her sensory issues , letter from opticians backing this up and not being able to see without them , letter from Dr confirming her night time needs of wetting the bed and not wearing glasses at night and letter showing we had to get an extra bin at our property due to pads etc filling it up .

hope it’s enough evidence alongside what I’ve wrote x
