Has anyone used Epaderm Ointment for their childs eczema? I recently got it for my son after trying other creams that haven’t worked. Is it supposed to make the eczema red once it’s been applied?
I can’t tell if it’s helping or actually making it worse :(

Haven’t tried this one… we went through a tone of creams before I found one that worked for my son. If you haven’t already, I recommend to try Fucibet (worked instantly for us)
Eoaderm could be one of those that looks worse before it gets better x good luck I know it’s stressful trying to find the right cream

No it shouldn't make them red.

It's the only one that works for my son but we tried lots of other emmoliants that caused his skin to be sore and red first.

My son had terrible eczema when young. Numerous infections, steroid cream, wet wraps etc. Epaderm was the only moisturiser that helped at all. All the others like double base, diprobase etc just stung and made it worse. Everyone is different though so worth trying something else. Son luckily grew out of it after he was about 8 but the early years were hell. Hope you find something that works

I agree with PP, it shouldn't make it red - I think that indicates they're reacting to something in the cream and it may make eczema worse. We had the exact same experience with Epaderm and also Aveeno and E45. After researching I concluded it was probably the Cetostearyl Alcohol which is in all three, and can cause skin irritation. This is an ingredient in a lot of emollient creams, even ones for sensitive skin and eczema. The one we ended up using (on recommendation from a dermatologist) was Doublebase Gel, so I'd really recommend giving that a try. Another thing you can try is plain Vaseline - it's not as effective but it's at least very unlikely to make anything worse.

Good luck - once you find the right emollient it makes a huge difference.

You are probably goibg to have to go through the ingredients for every product you have used. There will be something allergenic. It is so hard to find the right product.

@Chlox16 did you continue to use epaderm or do you use something else now?

we switched to epaderm cream which seems to be much better. No redness at all 😊
